Dynamic Dialogues: Uniting Communities with Downtown In Business

Local Leaders Podcast Co-Host Sam recently had the pleasure of attending two dynamic events, each a testament to the power of collaboration and community engagement fostered by Downtown In Business. From the vibrant Opera Bar and Grill to the prestigious Chester Racecourse, these gatherings brought together influential figures to chart the course for Chester's future.

"Hey there, readers! Sam here, reporting back from two exhilarating events that showcased the very essence of community-driven progress. Let me take you on a journey through the bustling streets of Chester, where innovation and collaboration take center stage."

The first event unfolded at the Opera Bar and Grill, a charming venue pulsating with energy and anticipation. Hosted by Downtown In Business in collaboration with Invest Chester and the Chester BID Company, this daytime gathering was dedicated to exploring the realms of property and regeneration.

At the helm was the irrepressible Frank McKenna, DIB Group Chair, whose charismatic presence set the tone for an engaging discussion. Alongside industry stalwarts Phil Mayall, Managing Director of Muse, and Tim Heatley, Chief Executive of Capital & Centric, Frank McKenna steered conversations around the potential for regeneration and growth in Chester.

With Gemma Davies, Director of Economy and Housing at Cheshire West and Chester Council, adding depth to the dialogue, attendees were treated to a rich tapestry of insights and perspectives. The event, attended by over 60 business leaders from Chester, Cheshire, and North Wales, underscored the significance of public-private sector partnerships in driving positive change.

Fast forward to the second event, held at the prestigious Chester Racecourse, and the focus shifted to the hospitality sector. Hosted by Downtown In Business, this gathering aimed to explore the potential for an Accommodation Business Improvement District (BID) in Chester.

From strategic insights shared by Bill Addy, Chief Executive of Liverpool BID Company, to the expertise of Steven Hesketh, a revered figure in the hospitality industry, the event offered a platform for dialogue and innovation. Attendees, including hotel owners, restaurant operators, tourism professionals, and local government representatives, engaged in discussions aimed at shaping the future of Chester's hospitality landscape.

As the events concluded, Sam reflected on the power of Downtown In Business in bridging the gap between the public and private sectors. With Frank McKenna's magnetic leadership at the helm, these gatherings serve as catalysts for progress, uniting communities and inspiring collective action.
